For my paper, I decided to discuss a few issues pertaining to government regulations on the curriculums in public schools. This is known to be a very controversial topic for everyone. Not just adults, but the students as well. In my essay I am going to cover four main points that I find to be extremely important. These points include: what happened with common core, standardized testing, the learning styles dilemma, and the new issues that students are facing due to intervention. I would like to begin with the idea of common core. According to my research and understanding common core is basically a system that is used to help everyone learn easier. For instance my younger brother brought home some of his 4th grade math homework and instead of doing regular multiplication they had to map it all out in a box diagram and then add and subtract a few numbers that varied according to the problem. I should probably add the utter confusion that was displayed on my Mom's face as she struggled to do 4th grade math. The whole idea behind it was great. I seemed like a sound plan with no errors. As someone who has taken part in many group activities I can testify to something else. In all of my experiences taking part in group work left me doing all of it or having to fix it later on because no one else really understood what we were doing or they didn´t comprehend the material in class. Even if one person was not stuck doing all the work because they did not want to fail the assignment and another member actually helped everyone gets to take credit for it. I think that's the part that frustrates me the most. Teachers don't always look at who did what for they project, they just give us an overall group
