As you can tell from my examples both characters, Elie Wiesel and Atticus Finch are courageous. It may be in different ways, with Elie going through physical pain and Atticus being more of a mental/verbal challenge, but in the end, it’s all courage. Hence there is courage in both Night and To Kill A Mockingbird. Both characters knew that they were most likely going to be conquered, they had nearly no chance of overcoming their problems, yet they both put forth their full effort until the

Courage is looked at as the ability to face things that you are afraid of physically or mentally. Then in the “Life of Frederick Douglass” by Frederick Douglass and Red Badge of Courage screenwriter John Huston there is a common theme of courage. Next In the narrative of “Life of Frederick Douglass” he shows physical courage throughout his time of being a slave. Then Henry in Red Badge of Courage also showed physical courage when he had to go off to war.
When scout stands up to the mob(Lee 205) this shows courage because she is standing up to a mad drunken mob that could kill her. Also, this shows courage because if she didn’t stand up to her the mob would’ve been 10 times worse and it takes courage to stand up to any adult when she was still a kid. A quote for this is “Do you remember me Mr. Cunningham?”(Lee 205) this shows courage because it shows that scout is using a kind of guilt thing to make Mr. Cunningham stop the mob and tell everyone to go home that takes a lot of courage to stand up to a mob like that and to talk to the leader of it when he is 2 or more feet tall. The next example for courage is when Mrs Dubose(Lee 147) tries to get off of her morphine addiction. This shows courage because it is very hard to get off of an addiction especially a drug addiction.
Courage is Earned! Courage can't just be said it has to be shown. In the book Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor, Mr. L.T. Morrision is the most brave, loyal, and kind person you will meet. Mr. Morrison showed courage by standing to the Wallaces, he moved Kaleb Wallace's car off the road, and when he stayed with the Logans even though he could get hurt Mr. Morrison’s actions proved that he knows what is right and he is going to stand up for that no matter what. Even though his parents were killed by whites, he stays calm and knows exactly how to deal with the situation.

Throughout the story almost every important character has shown courage. Each character showed it in some different and similar ways. Courage has gone through many changes. It has been altered throughout races, cultures, religions, sex, and time. However, the core values of courage has always remained parallel. Do you want to know what it takes to have courage. Well, the speakers in “The Terror” and the “Transcript of McNeil” explain what it takes to be courage’s in the terror the speaker gets jumped at the beginning of the story and that sicks with him for a long time and at the end he finally finds the courage to face the two who jumped him. And in the transcript of McNeil the speaker is somebody who grew up in segregation and goes to a sit in bar and wants to be server, but they do not serve him. And I think that both stories represent that Courage is the ability to overcome the fear of facing someone, something, and overcoming the fear of someone telling you to stop doing what you are doing and for the right cause.

Bravery can be found in basic tasks every day. It doesn’t require doing drastic tasks. I exemplify courage whenever I talk to someone I am afraid of, ask a question in class, and even when I simply walk down in my scary chilling basement. Courage is the most important element of the heroic code because without courage, heroes and people would not be able to face the trails that scare
The monster archetype has been one of the most riveting archetypes that surrounds the concept of ‘evil’. It has been portrayed as a supernatural creature with grotesque features that normally brings disruption to the city and needs to be tamed or controlled to bring once again peace to the story. Due to this, it is most commonly depicted with a negative connotation, and with the idea of horror and fear. The monster has been present since the bible, which was written approximately 3,400 years ago, with the anecdote of Goliath. It has remained with its primary role of converting the protagonist into a hero and providing fear to the storyline.
