The general argument made by Jamie Dailey in “Modern- day Witch Hunts: Broadly targeting the Muslim Community is antithetical to America’s founding ideas” is that after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 the Muslim Community seems to be targeted. More specifically, Dailey is stating that the irrational fear and paranoia present in American Society causes racial and religious discrimination of the Muslims. Dailey writes about mosques, which are Islamic places of worship, and how they have been recently targeted. Dailey writes, “ In Glendale, Arizona, a bottle filled with acid was thrown at a mosque while mosque officials stood nearby. The social problem that the article “When Schooling Meets Policing” is focusing on is the negative issues police officers have on students and their education when police officers are in the school. B.) The big problem that is emphasized in the article is what police officers are doing to young children when the children misbehave. One issue that is emphasized in the article is when at water balloon fight at a high school went down as a senior prank, eight students were arrested and two dozen police officers came to the campus. Students are being arrested for spit balls, temper tantrums, and other childish things that kids are expected to do at that age. In the past the education system would discipline the students with detention or something similar, but now the police officers are actually arresting students for very small things.

I would like to go the the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy because it would train me to become a police officer. The location of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy is P.O Box 313 on 5402 Sugar Grove Road in Plainfield, Indiana. There are many things to do around the academy. So at the end of the day when students don’t have anything else to do they can roam the city and have some fun and because they do not serve dinner there is a wide variety of restaurants that the students can eat at. One of the biggest issues in our country today is terrorism. Many Americans are surrounded by fear of potential attacks and many more have ideas and perceptions of Muslims rooted in their mind. Yet these thoughts play a major role in racism and islamophobia, thoughts that could contribute to more terrorism, and more harmful impacts on our Muslim brothers and sisters. Muslim communities have been under intense surveillance, mapping and identifying neighborhoods where many Muslims preside. Kamalakar Duvvuru, who teaches the New Testament in India, says, “In 2007 the Los Angeles Police Department [LAPD] launched an extensive mapping program to identify Muslim enclaves across the city.
This war was inevitable. We all knew it. However, the extent of destruction, casualties and ruthless violence wasn’t anticipated. As suggested by some experts, the most feasible solution to reduce crime and at the same time create a better police-community relationship is community policing. First of all, in order to understand more about community policing, one must recognize the true definition of such law enforcement strategy. Community policing is considered an organizational strategy in which the community and law enforcement are expected to work closely together in order to solve problems that affect everyone equally; such problems are fear of crime, physical and social disorder, and neighborhood decay. The main idea of community policing is that those people considered to be law abiding citizens should be allowed to have some kind of input in what involves the police work, in exchange for their participation and support (Jenkins, 1995). In the black community, there have been many questionable incidents between police officers and black citizens. An officer might approach an African American who broke the law differentially than a White American based on their own discretion. Whereby an officer would hesitate to immediately arrest a white person for breaking the same law, they would handle the arrest of a black person differently. This is problematic: Police discretion impacts the way the society views the criminal justice system by having too much range on enforcing the law.
The topic for this research proposal project is on community policing, and the factors that are involved in determining if relationships between law enforcement and citizens in these neighborhoods are strained. In order to be successful, community policing must be built on trust, as both civilians and law enforcement must work hand in hand to protect their communities. If there is a lack of trust, then these programs becomes broken, and can therefore lead to other violence and criminal acts. This research proposal project will focus on minority based communities and citizens, where the majority of the citizens are either African American or Hispanic.
