Companionship is a subject that many pieces of text use as a subject. It can be examined in text by using many different methods and theories. Some theories that could be used to examine this subject include structuralism, psychoanalytic, and reader response.
The subject of companionship is evident in the movie Toy Story. In the movie Toy Story, directed by John Lasseter, Structuralism is used throughout the film. The Structuralism supports the theme that companionship is needed for one to be happy. It does so through its use of music, characterization, and conflict.

One of the main conflicts in the story is that Woody is afraid that Buzz will take Woody’s place as Andy’s favorite toy. It bothers Woody so much that he pushes Buzz out of the window (Lasseter). Andy’s companionship is so important to Woody that he is willing to make Buzz go missing just so he can spend more time with Andy. Another major conflict is when Woody and Buzz get lost and taken by Sid, the deranged, toy abusing neighbor. They need to escape Sid and get back to Andy before Andy is gone because he is in the process of moving out of his old house (Lasseter). This conflict supports the idea that companionship is needed to make one happy because Woody and Buzz learn that they must stick together if they want to survive and ever make it back to Andy. Through their journey, they become good friends, and that even though they both love Andy, it does not matter who is Andy’s favorite toy is. Reading a story about a dog is usually my go to solution for when I am required to read nine week books. I currently have one dog. He is a hungarian Vizsla named Dakota. I have had him for nearly thirteen years. All of the dogs that i have met have been very kind and good natured. Each of my aunts and uncles, as well as my grandparents have dogs. They are all a part of the family. A lot of people love dogs because they will love a person unconditionally, no matter what that person does to them. When a dog likes a person, that person becomes the whole world to that dog, and they will do anything and everything to protect their person. They truly are man’s best
