Based on the article “The Thematic Paradigm” by Robert B. Ray, there are two kinds of heroes that are America’s favorite. The official hero and the outlaw hero and, both heroes have mirrored the American significance in many ways. The official hero is the one who behaves within the law. The official hero includes the law in their tasks and, helps create new laws for the future. The outlaw hero is the type of hero who takes matter into their own hands.

Guillame de Machaut, unlike John Dowland, has a well-known composition called Agnus Dei, and it is a prayer for mercy and peace. Machaut created music for the church and was the first to do in a polyphonic approach. Agnus Dei became a staple in the mass ordinary, as it referred to “speaking of christ”. This song was meant to appeal to the mind and not so much the ears, it was a revamp on the Middle Age Gregorian chant. John Dowland was from 1563-1626, so he is from the late Renaissance period in which he primarily wrote melancholy songs based off of popular consort songs and dance music from that time period.

While both Lexington, Kentucky and Martin, Tennessee are predominantly considered college towns; it is the only definitively similarity I have noted while living in both. Young when I initially discovered Lexington, I fell in love with its southern charm and large horse farms that embodied the American Dream, and while Martin is located in the south it lacks in the same hospitality and beauty being that every turn you make leads you to yet another slaughter house and not many step off their farms for they grow and rear what they need to survive. Lexington draws to the large population it carries with its varied shopping options and dining experiences that leave you going all day without fully discovering all that the town has to offer, while

After their heart-to-heart talk three days earlier, Tom and Dennis’ budding friendship was once again showing signs of strain. For Tom, the tension was twofold. Firstly, knowing how deep Booker’s feelings were for him, he did not want to lead him on by behaving too friendly. Secondly—and most disturbingly—he was struggling to understand the complexity of his own feelings. Although he did not know why, Booker had awakened something inside him, something he had not felt for a very long time… full-blown infatuation.

Dewey and Adams’ writings are about to different things, but in some aspects they both share similarities. Dewey writes about the pros and cons of traditional and progressive teaching, not taking a personal stance on either. Adams on the other hand talks about how public schools is the greatest savior of the immigrant district, and that without school the immigrants would face trouble with the law and family matters in the future. What Dewey and Adams both agree is that education is most important for the youth. After reading Dewey’s writing I believe that traditional and progressive education can be beneficial but only at a certain age.
