One leader for the Confederacy was Jefferson Davis. He contributed to the course and outcome of the Civil War by leading the Confederates, most people think he was a stronger leader than Abraham Lincoln, mainly because he was in the United States MIlitary Academy at West Point. Also he was a officer during the Mexican War. Then he helped try to win the war by serving as Secretary of War under the 14th president Franklin Pierce, additionally Jefferson Davis was widely respected for his courage and for his honesty. One leader for the Union was president Abraham Lincoln.
Both Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln were important political figures, and they still are. It is important to remember them for what they have done for the Unites States of America. They both have greatly impacted our lives today in creating diversity for younger generations. Even they had their own friendly relationship with each other. But it was not very friendly when first starting off when they met.
Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass are two icons of the abolition of the slavery, although they had different life background and different public role, they fought for the same goal at the time of the emancipation. Abraham Lincoln born in America, he was a politician and believed that slavery was immoral and a social evil, he also was elected as President of The united Stated and during his tenure he lead the civil war, proclaimed the emancipation. On the other hand Frederick Douglass was a fugitive slave who later became a writer and a reformer activist, he also was an abolitionist who hates the slavery and believed that no one is the owner of other person. Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were heroic men who fought for freedom for all people. Many people were influenced by Lincoln and Douglass, Lincoln was able to speak about how slavery was horrid and Douglass was able to tell people about how it was to be a slave. “I felt like one who had escaped a den of hungry lions.” (SB p. 71) Douglass gave an image to people who hadn’t seen the evil of slavery for themselves. People were able to look up to Lincoln as a leader, as a captain who could lead them through the tough times of civil war.
Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were both selfless men who were willing to sacrifice themselves to earn their own and others’ freedom and liberty. Because of Lincoln’s well thought out plans and generosity, not only did he help the generation he was living in but he heroically saved the future generations from suffer before passing away, “He is dead; but the cause he so ardently loved, so ably, patiently, faithfully represented and defended- not for himself only, not for us only, but for all the people in all their coming generations… will survive it,” (SB pg.68). Lincoln is an iconic example of a man who was smart in his plans and truly cared about the future. Douglass was also an unselfish man that inspired many and to top everything

Radical And The Republican Paper Abraham Lincoln is known as the republican while Fredrick Douglass is known as the radical, both of these men kept their distance from each other although Abraham Lincoln (the president) and Fredrick Douglass (a runaway slave) knew who each other were, it took them a long time for them to get together and work on the slavery problem together. Douglass just had one issue though, he didn't really trust Lincoln and thought that it had took Lincoln too long to proclaim emancipation. Both men came up up a lot, both men are important historical figures and what many people tend to want to know is why?
In many ways, Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln compared and contrasted amongst many ideals, the most decisive being the issue of slavery. Lincoln would compare with Davis over the defense of slavery and the inferiority of African-Americans . Regardless, the two presidents would differ amongst slave rights (liberty) and expansion of the institution. Throughout a dismal time of America succession and the civil war began the idea of slavery would shift politics into two dominant factions.

In his recent study, "The Radical and the Republican: Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and the Triumph of Antislavery Politics" (2007), Professor James Oakes traces the intersecting careers of both men, pointing out their initial differences and how their goals and visions ultimately converged. Oakes is Graduate School Humanities Professor and Professor of History at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He has written extensively on the history of slavery in the Old South. Oakes reminds the reader of how much Lincoln and Douglass originally shared.
Abraham Lincoln, Frederic Douglass, were one of the most appealing well-known speakers, people who did believe that slavery was morally wrong and devote their lives to fight for freedom. However, there are several differences between the view of the Constitution’s position differences between Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. Kansas-Nebraska Act indicated that the recognition of slavery should be determined by the decision of these residents (popular or squatter sovereignty). This act itself conflicted heavily with the Missouri Compromise was unconstitutional, which was essentially seen as the admittance of slavery anywhere in the country. This act made a political issue of confrontation between North and South.
Introduction Many writers and speakers have been influenced by the speeches of Martin Luther King Jr. "I have a Dream" and Frederick Douglass "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July". These speeches have helped evolve the history so drastically that black American’s now have freedom and to never be segregated like they were in the past.
Although a century apart, Martin Luther King Jr’s Letter from Birmingham Jail and Frederick Douglass’s What to a Slave is the fourth of July are kindred spirits. Notwithstanding the many differences in their respective writing styles, deep down the essence of the message conveyed is still very much the same. Both Martin Luther King Junior and Frederick Douglas had similar beliefs and concepts related to the treatment of the African American community. They both describe a tough yet heart breaking situation that makes them question their moral values and doubt the system and its ability to change for better.
The ability to read and write is both creative and destructive. This ability opens your eyes to the world and how beautiful it can be. It also has the potential to destroy your entire grip on reality and expose you to the actual world you live in. It imprisons you yet, releases you from your mental confinement. Some people never escape from this confinement, some do; and those who escape sometimes go on to do great things in life.
Jefferson and King: Advocates for Change In their respective eras, both Thomas Jefferson and Martin Luther King Jr. advocated for change in their societies through direct action. However, they had different visions of how to take action. Both urged that in order to make this change, unjust laws needed to be broken and the subsequent consequences must be faced.
Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. were both born 120 years apart. They were also killed ten days apart in the same month, years apart of course. Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. were one of the biggest influences on Slavery and Civil Rights. As well as being great leaders during their times. Both of these men were similar, but also had their differences.
The African Nelson Mandela and the American Martin Luther King are important and influential heroes who made the world better somehow, in terms to fight for black people rights in their country. According to (www.dictionary.com), a hero is defined as “ the man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities”. Certainly, both heroes had the courage to sacrifice for black people with extreme power to resist the racism in the past using various ways. It is clear that the two heroes met their ambitions, but Mandela made bigger change worldwide and he was inspirational leader with severe willingness to fight for justice. Nelson Mandela and Martin King lived many similar situations which led to their great effort.
