Gloria Skurzynski’s “Nethergrave” is a better work of science fiction than Ray Bradbury’s story “A Sound of Thunder” because “Nethergrave” is more realistic in how the future could turn out to be if the internet becomes advanced enough. The stories “Nethergrave” and “A Sound of Thunder” both have interesting plots that seem plausible in the realm of science fiction.
“Nethergrave” fits into the realm of science fiction quite well because the story involves very advanced technology that seems almost unbelievable. “Nethergrave” also delves into the theory of cyberspace and how different it could be from the physical world. “A Sound of Thunder” also fits into the science fiction category well. “A Sound of Thunder” involves time travel, which is a stereotypical topic in science fiction.

“A Sound of Thunder” has brought up the fact that everything that happens matters, even if it seems insignificant at the moment. “A Sound of Thunder” brings the theme that every action has a reaction on bigger scale with the help of time travel using advanced technology, which is possible only though science fiction. A major theme that is presented in “Nethergrave” through Jeremy’s journey is that not everyone is who they say they are online. Jeremy’s online friends turn out to be fake versions of themselves and that they aren’t who they say they are.
