The US Declaration of Independence and the French Declaration of Rights of Man are two documents that are well known parts of history. Though they are both declarations these two documents are not the same, they are both working to accomplish separate goals and retaliating against two different kings. We are able to see these documents are able to relate with their specific ways of thinking during this Enlightenment era. Throughout this essay I will compare and contrast the two documents while speaking on the successes of each document. The Declaration of Independence and the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen have many similarities that stood out to me while comparing pertaining to the ideas that both of these documents surrounded. Both documents share ideas concerning equality, freedom, and liberty rights that individuals were being withheld. It is obvious that in both documents there is a common problem of unjust treatment even though each document is worded differently it easy to gather that they are fighting for the same rights essentially. From first glance of the phrases we see obviously that both documents share similarities within the general ideas, but the specifics are what causes them to become so different. Once I analyze each document and look at why one revolution was more successful than the others I learn that they both support different ideas. For example, the French on one side state that all men will remain equal in their rights, while on the other hand Americans state that though all men were created equal it may not remain this way forever. I am able to see that the French take a much more radical approach than the Americans decided to take. It is evident that the French took a much different approach because the French encountered a much more wide ranging revolt than the Americans
