Dionysus and the pirates Although Dionysus is known as the god of wine, that doesn’t mean he I just some guy who knows a lot about wine. He is a god just like Zeus or Poseidon who possesses a great deal of power and if need be can use that power to hurt or destroy. Gods are always trying to teach mortals a lesson, but Dionysus is a god who constantly teaches people that betraying or doing wrong by a god can lead to very serious trouble.
Dionysus is disguised as a mortal and ends up getting captured by a group of pirates. They hold Dionysus for a while, but eventually he gets very upset since they won’t release him.
