Rough Draft Dionysus lived a very successful life. He was a big part of many peoples lives. Dionysus in our opinion is one of the most funny yet, most talented gods. In this report you will learn a lot about Dionysus and his creative, yet amazing life. Dionysus had many things that represented him. He had sacred animals, sacred plants, and many symbols. His sacred plants are the grape vine, ivy, and bindweed. One of his sacred plants were the grape vine, because he was the god of wine. The other plant is the ivy and it is his sacred plants because he wears ivy around his forehead as a head band. His other sacred plant is the bindweed because he often had some bindweed flowers in his headband for a more creative look. He has sacred animals, such as the panther, the bull, and then the serpent. The sacred animals the panther and the bull are his animals because both the animal and its skin appear in artistic depictions of the god. He was the only god with a mortal parent. His father Zeus was a god but his mother Semele was a mortal. Before he was born his mother was burned to death. Zeus then removed Dionysus from Semele and stitched him into his thigh. Dionysus was then born from his thigh. He had 6 brothers and 8 sisters. His brothers were Hercules, Apollo, Hermes, Hephaestus, Perseus and Minos. Ares, Athena, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hebe, Helen of Troy, the Muses, the Graces were all of his sisters. Once he was older he married Ariadne, the love of his life. Dionysus has a lot of interesting facts about him. Dionysus is the god of wine, wine-making, grape harvest and ritual madness. He learned what the grape-vine was used for and how to make wine while growing up. He also had a two ways to spell his name, Dionysus and Dionysos.
