Hermes was the god of trade and boundaries. He was the herald of the Olympian gods, and some say he was also the guide of the dead who led should down into the underworld. He was the personal messenger to Zeus. His father was Zeus, chief of gods, and his mother was Maia, goddess of clouds and one of the Pleiades. He was born in a cave on a mountain in Arcadia, which he was conceived and born in the same day. He had lots of half-siblings but some were Apollo, Athena, Aphrodite, Hebe, and Ares. Hermes never had a wife but was known for abundant love affairs with mortals, goddesses, and nymphs. He had 9 divine offspring and 24 mortal offspring. One of his kids, Pan, was half man, half goat.
