In the 13 colonies there were 3 sections. There were the middle colonies, the new england colonies and the southern colonies. Each section lived and succeeded differently by either farm of trade. All three had different ways of living due to the geography, education and economy. Most of the colonies even used slavery. The economy for each section of colonies were different in many ways. In the New England colonies there was a lot of shipbuilding. The best type of business was was either fishing of lobster catching. The church and state were not separate and the colonists lived close together in small towns and the surrounding by farmland or pastures were shared in each town. The Middle Colonies had a successful economy. They were successful in the industries and in agriculture. Also because of the deep the deep harbors they were able to build ships too. Most of the middle colonists lived on 50 acre farms. In the Southern Colonies most people lived on farms. Most of the people the lived in the southern colonies were from Scotland, Ireland, England. In the New England colonies the ground was not very firtel so there was bad farming. There were many trees, so there not much room to farm anyways. The New England colonies did not grow and cash crops. The Middle colonies had deep harbors to be able to trade goods overseas or anywhere by boat. There were thick forests but, fertile valleys so that they could grow staple crops. In the Southern Colonies the geography was great for farming but, they had very thick vegetation.
