-Originally, not everybody had civil liberties. Women, children, African Americans, none of them did. We as a country have evolved in a way that benefits everyone now, for the most part. As the “rules” changed, so did our government. When things like new amendments came around, our government had to adjust as so. With the amendments of freedom of speech, privacy, comes along a whole new level of enforcement. The rights came with only some wiggle room, and have their limits. When things came to an extreme, there had to be a way to stop people from abusing those rights, and hence there needed to be trials, court, law enforcement. All of this developed over time, and the government and the states had to adapt to each and every one.

In the past, women were not treated as an equal race, but more of as property. We could not vote, we were married to people that we may not have known, we wee stuck doing the things that “women should be doing” like cooking, or doing the laundry. This went on until some girls got sick of it, and started a whole revolution of equality. Some would call them feminists now. Although they did win the right to “equality,” to some, that just meant that they were now allowed to vote. Others, still believe that gender equality is still a problem to this day, and I do not particularly think they are wrong. Another example, is the obvious. Black rights. This was literally a huge countrywide issue, stemming back from slavery, and then into segregation. African Americans in the US were almost like foreign aliens. Nobody wanted them to be like normal humans beings. Finally, after years, equality seemed to be just reachable with many hardships and protsest and events. A long battle resulted in racial equality, but as I said the same thing for gender equality, it may not be that simple. Some people are still considered to be racist, especially if they grew up around a segregated
