Symbols can be found everywhere, yet interpretations differ depending on the perspective of the individual. In the twentieth episode of NCIS titled, “Missing,” there are a multitude of symbols used to tell an intriguing story (“Missing”). One involving the role reversal between captor and captee. Several of these symbols are the cross necklace, the marines who were declared deserters, and the pain in Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ chest. The clearest of the three was that of the cross necklace which represented the sins of our victim, Bill Atlas (“Missing”).

I did family chores, delighted in hunting and fishing and football, and eagerly read military history. In 1911, I won an appointment to West Point, where I played football until I suffered a serious knee injury. My pranks, fondness for cards and smoking, and average grades earned him little respect from his teachers. They thought that I would be a good officer, but not a great one.

The colonists that resided in Jamestown, Virginia were heavily dependent on foreign aid and the funding provided by investors. On the contrary, the colonists that settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts was almost entirely self sufficient and did not have to rely on the help from foreign nations. While both the colonies originally focused on fishing and farming, the colonists from Jamestown quickly expanded their industries towards lumber, and utilized technologies that were available in their time such as making mills that were water operated.
I felt, I needed to help and inspire my community to stand up against injustice, but I needed to redefined myself through the military and college. The military helped me established a foundation of ownership, which lead me in enrolling in my local community college where I was enlighten about activism and entered numerous organizations to be involved in service.

Being selected to be a candidate for membership in the Kenwood chapter of National Honor Society is a great honor for me. It means that I have achieved my goal of demonstrating my determination to be a part of something that appreciates and values students with exceptional qualities. I believe that I am able to become a valuable member of the NHS because I am hard working, reliable and I possess all the qualities required by this prestigious organization, such as scholarship, leadership, character, and service abilities.
