In the stories “Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” and “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” the stories teach you that you shouldn’t be selfish and cats and rats/mice have hated each other for a long time and do you want to know why? They have hated each other because Rat took advantage of Cat in a race long, long ago and Mouse almost killed Cat in a boat long, long ago. The hook tells us that in both stories have a similarities and differences. The thesis tells us that we will be talking about them. This essay will show the similarities and differences of “Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” and “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies”.
First, this essay will explain some similarities of the “Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” and “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” stories. In both stories the rodent is the antagonist, the cat is the protagonist. Another thing in both stories is that both rodents are selfish. Also in both stories the cat and the rodent used to be friends. In the “Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” story the cat has the idea of using the buffalo to win in the “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” story the mouse comes up with the idea to use the pumpkin as a boat. Another difference in the “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” story the cat and mouse ride a pumpkin and in the “Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” story the cat and rat ride a buffalo. Also in “Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac” the rat wanted to win and in “How Cats and Mice Became Enemies” the mouse was hungry.
