Lewis and Clark made an extraordinary journey that opened new doors. Doors leading to meeting new cultures, experiences, new terrains, tools, foods, plants, animals, adventure, and ideas. Through the journey of Lewis and Clark, they meet Native Americans from all different tribes. One special in particular Native American they met is a women, Sacagawea. She accompanied Lewis and Clark for most of their journey. She helped communicate, do fair trades, give advice for geography, and helped them get food and find shelter. The meeting of the the two groups really changed their perspective and the Native Americans perspective way of life. Besides discovering the west, they explored different climates and terrains, and recorded them in their journals. Thank goodness for that, because now future explorers can use their journals and broaden their discoveries. Some may argue that Lewis and Clark didn’t do much, like one historian says “Lewis and Clark’s expedition does not deserve all the attention that it gets. Throughout their travel, Lewis and Clark met many Native tribes and traded items and food. To both groups, they were being traded interesting looking foods and tools, and trading both benefited them. For example, Lewis and Clark traded items for horses so their travel could be easier, the Natives traded items for cloth and beads that they used for their apparel. Now that these two different groups are interested in these new items, they be inspired by one another. Like Lewis and Clark could have thought the way they build houses was extraordinary, and started brainstorming of ways to settle. Overall, both groups helped each other by inspiring one another and introducing the other to new foods and tools. That's not all though, while journeying through these different areas, they come across new plants and animals, and they name some, like the prairie dog.
