To understand sacagawea’s roll in the expedition, when we think about expeditions, especially one that is this long we think of it as this massive journey, of just traveling every day, packing up and moving and going forward and trying to figure out where they were going and how they would get there and what they would eat. Sacagawea played an important role, not as a guide as she’s been mythologized into, but as a person who could read the landscape fairly well. I think she could read rivers. She could read a valley. She had a sense of what the landscape said about direction and where they were going.
Sacajawea gave birth to a baby boy today. She named him Jean Baptiste. The labor was more than 24 dreadful hours. We all heard her screams but there was nothing we could do. We sat around day and night.
Sacajawea was one of the most influential people in the exploration of the west coast. Sacajawea was a native american woman living in 18th and 19th centuries. Americans today know nothing certain about this brave woman. The only information that Americans have about sacajawea is from the diaries and journals of Lewis and Clark. Sacagawea was born in around 1786 in Idaho or Montana as a lemhi shoshone woman.
In the Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican time period in history, there were many groups of Native Americans that had diverse cultures and societies. The technological and intellectual advancements in these societies, depended on where they were located in Mesoamerica. The Native Americans discovered many things that could help them live an advanced and satisfying life. Each tribe had different necessities and objects that they needed in order to survive. The Native American cultures in these areas had various developments that the different European cultures could use to make themselves more powerful and become strong enough to annihilate many of the Native American cultures.
The major consequence of Columbus’ voyages was the Columbus Exchange. The Columbus Exchange changed the course of history between the two practically separate worlds. The Old World and the Americas were very different from other. Each one of them had vastly disparate foods, diseases, and animals. Once Columbus “discovered” the Americas an exchange between the New World and Old World began.
European colonization changed the lives of Native Americans in the New World. Trade had a major effect on European and Native American lives. The Columbian trade was a huge success in both areas, but better for
When the settlers of Europe first came to the new world, they were introduced to the Native Americans. The settlers wanted the Natives to follow their culture and its benefits such as education, religion, and the usage of the environment. The Native Americans refused the request, stating they have their own type of culture, believing it to be the most superior; as a result, the Natives’ statement angered the ethnocentric settlers. Consequently, this caused a conflict between the two groups because of their culture differences. Firstly, the main culture difference consists of religion, tradition, and way of living.
The American government of the late 1800’s adopted the policy of assimilation because they were influenced by the desire to expand westward into territories occupied by these Native American tribes. All Native American tribes, lived to the west of the Mississippi River. These American Indians, some from the Northwestern and Southeastern territories, were confined to Indian Territory. The Native Americans had endured nearly a century of forced removal westward.
Before the Spanish ship that changed it all, which arrived in the “New World” in 1492, thriving organized communities of native people had centuries of history on the land. That ship, skippered by Christopher Columbus, altered the course of both Native American and European history. 1492 sparked the fire of cultural diffusion in the New World which profoundly impacted the Native American peoples and the European settlers. Prior to European contact, Native Americans lived as hunter-gatherers, living and traveling in groups of typically less than 300 people. These Native Americans spoke over 400 languages and practiced a myriad of different religions (The American Pageant).
-PBS (WHY). This greatly affected the Indians since they lost so many lives that day. The adaptation to the whites, the extinction of buffalo, and the domination of whites are just some of the reasons how the Native Americans land and culture was affected by the Westward Expansion. Although the Native Americans lost much of their homeland and their way of life, they still proved that even threw the worst conditions possible they stick together and fight through
In the late 18th and early 19th centuries the Cherokees were going through a time of rebirth and regeneration. After the American Revolution the Cherokees confronted with economic depression. They gave up their homes, villages, towns and hunting grounds to white Americans. Many Cherokees adopted customs, beliefs and lifestyles of white Americans; they profoundly assimilated White culture because in this way they hoped could survive as a nation in their homeland.
The indigenous people have a long and proud history, including the rich cultural and spiritual traditions. However, many of these traditions have been changed or even disappeared after the arrival of the European settlers. Forced introduction of European culture and values, Aboriginal community, indigenous land being deprived, and the imposition of a period of governance outside the pattern of the beginning of a cycle of social, physical and spiritual destruction. You can see the effects of today. Some of the effects include poverty, poor health, and drug abuse.
Christopher Columbus and Hernan Cortes were both famous Spanish adventurers during the Age of Exploration. When the explorers came upon land, they encountered two different cultures. In 1492, Columbus encountered the Taino people, and in 1520, Cortes encountered the Aztecs. The two cultures that the men encountered were different in more ways than they were similar in regards to how the natives treated the men, what weapons they had and their war-like behavior, their technologically advancements, their housing and architectural structures, and even their religion.
Native Americans have a really diverse culture and one report is not enough to talk about all of their cultures. They have fourteen tribes so it is obvious that they will have a lot of different cultures and traditions between all fourteen tribes. It is impossible to have fourteen tribes with different people and expect them to all believe in the same things so some of them have different beliefs and different traditions. They worshipped a lot of gods and even some of the gods had dolls made for them. Some tribes worshipped the sun or fire or some serpents.
A Comparative View of Literature of Native Americans and European Settlers At the point when the European explorers found the New World it was at that point inhabited by millions of Native Americans. Notwithstanding not having a writing system the Native Americans had a huge oratory literary accumulation of culture, history, and religion. The literature of the early explorers was for the most part narratives and letters. These writings portray the New World and the explorers' movements and experiences (Millisaw).
