I read the book one night, so excited to finish the story. Later in the week, I began to watch the film version, expecting the amazing detail the novel had. However, I was devastated to see that the movie did not convey the same description and connection between characters. The disrespected woman had drastic changes from the novel to the film. Comparison of the responsible guy in the movie and publication is very different. The ranch’s stable buck has crucial changes from the written version to the theatrical release. The book by John Steinbeck and the film directed by Gary Sinise Of Mice and Men are more different based on Curley’s wife, George and Crooks.

One similarity the smart guy had in the novel and movie was his physical appearance. In the book, his physical description says he has a crooked back, he is african american and he is possibly older than the other men. All these traits are clearly shown in the movie through his appearance and actions. Another similarity of crooks is his attitude towards others. In both stories, he is very aggressive verbally towards Lennie as he tries to enter Crook’s home. Crooks is territorial and felt that no one should be allowed in his room as he is not allowed anywhere else. This is strongly shown through his actions and words in both the movie and book. One difference of Crooks is how his personality is portrayed. In the book, it focuses on mentioning how Crooks has books, he is much smarter than anyone else on the ranch and he has had a good education. In The movie, there are glimpses of a book in the background but it is never mentioned or shown through his speech. Crooks’ intelligence is downplayed and forgotten about in the movie.
