Queen Victoria, and her son, King Edward VII address India very differently. In Queen Victoria’s address of November 1858, she if being more forceful, firm, apologetic, and she is trying to assure the Indians that she is going to improve their lives. However, in King Edward VII’s address 50 years later, in November of 1908 he is being more cordial, he is expressing how successful his mother’s attempt to help the nation of India was, and to mark the anniversary he shortened, or ended the sentences of those imprisoned for breaking the law by doing wrong to the Indians.
