The Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire. The Han dynasty Empire and the Roman empire stood large and mighty at the start of the Common Era, with the two kingdoms controlling an unprecedented mass amount of populations under their reign. Both kingdoms rose as predecessors from previous political systems that extended lands under one rule, with the Roman Republic expansion in Europe after the Punic wars and the Qin state achieving conquest over six other nearby states creating the first imperial China in east Asia. The heavy hand of the Qin dynasty and the assassination of Rome’s beloved general, Julius Caesar, by the Roman senate, threw both kingdoms into rebellion, ushering in centuries of imperialistic rule for both in their respective timelines.
Comparing Athens and Rome could also be thought of as comparing a flea, and an elephant. They have many differences, but are also surprisingly similar. So, who had the better system? The Roman Republic had a more established government, because citizenship was based on behavior, people had more liberties and freedoms, and Rome had a more secure government. Rome had a more established system of government because, their citizenship was based on how someone acts around and towards others, and their property.
The governments of Rome and America, do share similarities. Executive leaders from both could have their power taken away by legislators, they both had military responsibilities, and both had veto power. They also had limited terms in office, although there is a difference in duration.
Rome vs. U.S.A. Just imagine what the United States would be like if they ran out of money. Would there be absolute chaos, or maybe people fighting each other for a piece of bread? This could very easily happen to the United States if they keep going at the rate they are. The United States will eventually fall like Rome because the amount of taxes has increased, wars are very costly, and the interest of politics is declining. Will the taxation ever stop on American or the Roman citizens?
In various ways, Han China and Imperial Rome were politically similar yet also had their pair of differences. Two very well-known classical empires, both had highly advanced political systems for their time; Han China, lasted from 206 B.C.E to 220 C.E, and Imperial Rome, lasted from 31 B.C.E to 476 C.E. Many think these two empires where built with no previous influence, however; the Roman Empire had retained many aspects from the Roman Republic, and Han China from the Qin Dynasty. During their peaks, they controlled the majority of the world 's population because of their constant expansion of conquered lands, while their structure of administration and rule influenced many empires and future societies around the world. Aspects such as these, ultimately, led these two empires to be, arguably, the most influential societies in the world; as their legacies still live on today.
The Roman Emperor After the fall of Julius Caesar, one of history’s greatest military commanders, and most notable dictator of the Roman Empire, many successors with longer reigns followed - with arguably a lesser impact than that of their predecessor. Those emperors include Octavian, Nero, Domitian, and Marcus Aurelius. All four of these rulers had different ethics, and morals which contributed to the way they chose to govern the empire. This essay will contrast the similarities and differences between each of these emperors and their impact on the citizens of Rome. Rome warfare was characterized by great ferocity and the roman pursuit of victory was determined. Rome gave many good ideas; the senate was ruled by the people of Rome. The Roman Republic Government was a large complex constitution, which was secure by many checks and balances, so that no man could have complete control.
A civilization’s architecture not only shows the artistic skills of its designers and builders but also the functionality of its engineers, the power of its government, and the inventiveness of its people. Architecture was a crucial element to the success of two major cites in Europe, Rome and Athens. Each city had structures consisting of formal architecture like temples and basilicas showing the influence that its leaders had over each city, while utilitarian buildings like bridges and aqueducts helped build communication between distant cities throughout each empire. Though architecture as a whole was an important role in unifying the cities, the architecture design within each illustrates the similarities and differences between two.
