Romeo and Juliet, such a beautiful story/play written by William Shakespeare. For many years people have read William’s story/play, and many people have come up with their own interpretation and made their own version into a movie or play. Such as the movies Romeo and Juliet (1968), Romeo and Juliet (1996), and the play Romeo and Juliet (2014). The two movies and play have many similarities. Of course, all three do the acts of Romeo and Juliet, they all tell the story of the lovers and how their sad story went. All three versions had the same characters from the story. But though there were many similarities, there were a lot of major differences. While the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet stayed traditional, the 2014 play and 1996 version were seen through the modern eye. The 2014 play had Romeo riding in on a motorcycle, which was more modernized than riding in on horses. When a fight broke out, the characters fought with metal poles and chains, which was more improved than fighting with swords. The 1996 movie had vehicles and the fights broke out with a variety of guns. The many different varieties of guns explained the violence and the crimes in the world. There are many different symbols or colors that represent gangs, there are also many different names for the gangs. In the 1996 version of Romeo and Juliet, the guns were marked with symbols, like the Virgin Mary. Some people believe that the symbols on the guns were marked like that in the movies to portray which “gang” the characters were in.
