Sociopathy and psychopathy are two terms that are often used interchangeably to describe individuals with certain personality and behavioral traits. However, these two terms are not the same, and there are significant differences between them. In this paper, we will compare sociopathy versus psychopathy using real-world examples from the past 30 years.

Bundy exhibited many of the classic traits associated with psychopathy, including grandiosity, manipulation, and a lack of remorse. He was able to charm and manipulate his victims, which allowed him to carry out his crimes without being caught for many years. Bundy's crimes were premeditated, and he took pleasure in the suffering of his victims.

Bernie Madoff is a former stockbroker who was convicted of running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors out of billions of dollars. Madoff is often described as a sociopath because of his lack of empathy and disregard for the rights of others. He was able to manipulate his clients into trusting him, and he continued to perpetuate his scheme even as he knew it was unsustainable. Madoff's behavior was impulsive, and he did not exhibit the grandiosity or sense of entitlement often associated with psychopathy.
