Storm Boy was written in 1963 by author Colin Thiele, then a movie based on the book was released in 1976. The story is about a boy, his friendship with a pelican and his desire to help the environment. Which tells the story better, the book or movie? I’ve read the book and watched the movie and I think the book told the story better. The book has a descriptive language, it has suspense and keeps you intrigued, and you can feel the emotions. The first reason I prefer the book over the movie is the descriptive language it uses. You can see the descriptive language everywhere in the book, which fascinates me and allows me to imagine the scene clearly and even feel how it would be like if I was in that scene. An example of the descriptive language was shown on page 15 “But when the winter wind came sweeping up from Antarctica with ice on its tongue, licking and smoothing his cheeks into cold flat pebbles, he put on one of his father's thick coats that came down to his ankles”.
