Ill try to compare and contrast the two since the movie does not depict the story exactly as how the novel does. Similarities There were still some similarities in the film that tied back to the book. One of the main ones is when Nick walks to Gatsby’s backyard and finds him standing at the edge of his dock reaching out to what was a green light.

Literary Analysis First Draft The 1920s were an intriguing, yet oppressed time period that presented cultural movements and a major difference between the high and low end of the economic scale. These ideas were presented through cultures, politics, and american literature. To be specific, The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Their Eyes Were Watching God, written by Zora Neale Hurston.
Many people argue about what the best version of The Great Gatsby is, but it is really the original, the 1974 Movie, and here's why. The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a tragedy fiction novel. The novel follows the main character and narrator, Nick who is trying to make his way around life in the 1920’s in New York City. He meets his mysterious neighbor, who goes by Gatsby, and follows the incredible journey that Gatsby takes Nick on throughout love and holding on to the past. The superior rendition of The Great Gatsby is the 1974 movie because It had the best emotional value to fully understand the story.
Imagine a life where everything you ever wanted was yours. F. Scott Fitzgerald a man who was born in St. Paul, Minnesota (F. Scott Fitzgerald) didn’t really have everything especially since he lived Minnesota a place that is very similar too North Dakota. The Great Gatsby was one of Fitzgerald’s biggest books that made him famous. The story is narrated by Nick Carraway who served in World War I and is now trying to learn about the bond business. He moves to west egg a very rich area in Long Island and is now stuck with a big mess.

These words, spoken by Tom Buchanan in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel The Great Gatsby, exemplify the personality traits that are omnipresent throughout the novel. Tom is Daisy Buchanan’s husband whom she marries after her first love, Jay Gatsby, leaves for the war.
Such as the fact that Nick never meets Tom and Myrtle’s downstairs neighbors, the McKee’s, directly, how Daisy gave Gatsby his name because he introduced himself as Jay Gatz, and how Myrtle never purchased the dog directly though it is still present in the movie. There is also the fact that Gatsby and Nick are not introduced the same way as they are in the book. In the book Nick is sitting at a table with Jordan and Gatsby and mentions that he hasn’t seen the host. Nick still mentions that in the book, but Gatsby mentions Nick over without Jordan in sight changing that small piece of the storyline. The other minor difference that you pick up in the movie that you do not see throughout the book is that Daisy looks like she knows Gatsby is poor when she meets him, which changes the way their relationship is perceived.

The American Dream is the biggest comparison in the two novels and a secondary addition to that could be how unrealistic they are. Gatsby is completely impractical about his dream, he convinces himself that Daisy will leave her husband, child and her life to be with him. Afterwards Gatsby started realizing what was going on and started to panic and worry when it was not going his way, however he was always filled with fear of failure he never once gave up hope on Daisy even through very tough situations such as Myrtle’s death. Lennie was similar in the way that he would get himself into trouble on the contrary he still expected his dream to come true but he never realized that it would never be possible if he kept getting himself into trouble.
Gatsby has a strong desire for Daisy yet his emotions get in the way. In these text, Nick invites daisy over for tea and gatsby meets her there to try and reintroduce there love for one another though Gatsby has waited 5 years for daisy, thrown hundreds of party's for her,writes her letter, and this is his one chance to finally be able to discuss with her this whole situation, but when he meets her this time, does he ruin the whole thing?
