The meaning of this quote is that people need to stop the war because war can tear people and families apart. In “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty and “The Man He Killed” by Thomas Hardy both talk about how war can tear people and families apart. These two passages are similar also different due to their different types of Irony and themes. The plot of “The Sniper” is expressed in the quote “Republicans and Free Staters were waging a Civil War” (O’Flaherty 206).
