During the Civil War there were many differences besides slavery. This war had the most American deaths than all of the wars the U.S. has been in combined! The south seceded from the north for slavery and other less important reasons. The North had more of nearly everything like navy, soldiers,horses, and food, while the south had slaves, cotton, and donkeys/mules. Throughout the war many great leaders rose and fell, battles fought, and great and terrible outcomes.
The Civil War was a battle of great importance to our history of the United States. On April 12th, 1861 this battle broke out between the Union States, North, and the Confederate States, such as the South. The Civil War took place all throughout the United states, and did not come to an end until the Union won the war on May 9, 1856. So, our question of “What caused the Civil War”, comes with three important answers. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were Economic, Social, and Political differences.
Uncompromising differences between the South (Confederacy) and the North (Union) created a civil war that lasted five years. During this war, Abraham Lincoln was president. His election led to the secession of many Southern states. After refusing to recognize the Confederacy as its own nation, the American Civil War commenced in 1861. The three main causes of the Civil War between the North and the South were industrial and agricultural economies, politics, and slavery.
The Civil War on the other hand, was a period in American history that was marked by great inflation, on both sides of the conflict. Both the Union and Confederacy were faced with the urgent need to generate large quantities of funds to pay for the exorbitant costs involved in prosecuting the ongoing war. Both governments then resorted to the same tactic in order to acquire the funds they so desperately needed to continue to fund their respective militaries. They simply printed more money as they needed in order to pay their outstanding debts. The difference, however, was that the Union’s currency was backed by a gold and silver standard.
During the period of the American Civil war, the two fighting sides had some differences but also many similarities. Both armies, the Confederate and Union, had many volunteers. The men fighting were fighting for what they believed. The results would change the lives of millions of slaves and the lives of the plantation farmers who used the slaves. On both sides the camps were in rough conditions, disease, small rations, and battles over stimulated soldiers senses.
To kick it off, the North had a specific viewpoint on the Civil War. Northerners believed that the war would be good and would result in the abolition of slavery. In Document 6, the text states, “After this war is over, this whole country will undergo a change for the better... abolishing slavery will dignify labor; that fact of itself will revolutionize everything.”
The Civil War was a war that took place in America with the North (the Union) vs the South (Confederate).. The war lasted four long years- from April 12, 1861 to April 9, 1865. The Civil War was caused because of mainly two reasons. One of the two main reasons is that slavery was happening in the United States and the second reason is that the states rights were violated. The war actually started because of a fort called Fort Sumter.

Once president Abraham Lincoln was elected as president in 1860 shortly after the south seceded which was a breaking point and the war started.

While the South fought for freedom, the North fought for unity. But as the conflict dragged on, it steadily evolved into an unanticipated social, economic, and political upheaval. The South desired to reserve all vague powers to the separate states themselves. The South trusted upon slave labor on behalf of their economic wellbeing, and the economy for the North was not
They thought that the Civil War was a fight for states’ rights and their way of life. Their goal was to gain independence. Southerns believed that they were being treated unfairly by the North and that their economic and political power was being threatened. According to Document 2, it states, “... They have robbed us of our property, they have murdered our citizens while endeavoring to reclaim that property by lawful means...”
