The Nurse on numerous occasions helps Juliet’s in her schemes to meet Romeo. For instance, she says, “Your lady mother is coming to your chamber. / The day is broke; be wary; look about.” (Shakespeare 3.5.39-40) This quote shows the Nurse warning Juliet that her mother was coming when the newlyweds were consummating.
Romeo and Juliet is a play about star-crossed lovers. Romeo is apart of a high class Montague family; their rival is the Capulet family. Romeo falls in love with the daughter of Lord Capulet. They want to get married but they know that this will not be approved between their family feud. This is why they secretly ask Friar Laurence to marry them in secret.
The nurse is the best character in Romeo and Juliet. She cares the most about Romeo and Juliet. The nurse is the only character that unselfishly cares about Juliet. Romeo cares about her for her physical appearance, her mom doesn’t really know her very well, her dad isn’t a huge part of her life either, and without the nurse, Juliet would be pretty much alone in the world. She also cares about Juliet’s love of Romeo, however, which makes her care about him.
(2.4.168-173) The Nurse actually gave thought to Juliet’s well-being unlike the Friar, who remained ignorant to the dangers of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship. Following Romeo’s exile, the Nurse promised Juliet that she would seek him out to “... comfort [Juliet]. I wot well where he is. Hark ye, your Romeo will be here at night.

Furthermore, the Nurse also plays a huge role in the death of Romeo and Juliet. When Romeo kills Tybalt in revenge for Mercutio's life, Juliet reports the scene back to the Nurse. Later, Prince Capulet suggests that Juliet should marry Paris.

Romeo and Juliet is a story of hasty decisions. The young couple must quickly decide to get married, how to act after Romeo is exiled, and whether or not to take their own lives. Many of these decisions are made under the guidance of the children’s mentors, Friar Laurence and the Nurse. Throughout this tragedy, Friar Laurence and the Nurse are the only adults that Romeo and Juliet seem to feel that they can trust and are in turn some of the main people that influence the outcome of the play. The Nurse and Friar Laurence play very similar roles, both in the play and the lives of the children, but the ways in which they advise and influence the children include more differences.

The hatred and tension between the Montagues and Capulets resulted in Romeo and Juliet’s marriage being kept a secret. They had no other choice then to confide their love for one another to the Nurse and Friar Laurence. Romeo and Juliet had warring parents who were not extremely involved in their everyday lives, therefore, the Nurse and Friar Laurence acted as parental figures toward them, guiding them through complicated situations to the best of their ability. These two characters wanted the best for the newlywed couple; however, both contributed to the tragic ending of Romeo and Juliet, making some of their guidance useful and some of it useless.
The Nurse helped out Juliet when her Parents could not. “As I told you my young lady bade me inquire you out; what she bade me say, I will keep to myself”(Act II.II.148-149). The Nurse has offered to keep the secret of the marriage between the two young ones and she will not tell anyone about it. After the Nursze comes back from visting Romeo she finds ways to not tell Juliet the good news instead she starts talking about other things, the Nurse also knows how delighted juliet will be once when she finds out about the wedding “Your love says, like an honest gentleman, and a courteous, and a kind,...where is your mother?”(Act II.II.55-57). The day of Mercutio and Tybalt 's death she did not think Romeo would do such a thing, and now her thoughts about Romeo have changed instead she thinks Romeo would end up hurting her young lady.
Lastly, Shakespeare uses Romeo and Juliet to show true love. Nurse shows parental love to Juliet throughout the play. Despite being a servant to the Capulet household, she has a role equivalent to that of Juliet’s mothers and regards Juliet as her own. Even with the fact that Nurse is not the birth mother of Juliet, she still treats Juliet like a daughter. Nurse cares about Juliet and wants her to be happy and find success.”
