Two of the most important pieces of work in pre-revolution America were Thomas Paine’s Common Sense and Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death,”speech. The two writings were very effective with the points they addressed and their eventual outcome. However, the two patriots each used different tones. Patrick Henry used a fiery, yet passionate tone, Thomas Paine used a sarcastic, formal tone. In the end though, it was Patrick Henry’s tone which proved to be more effective in swaying American colonists towards independence.

James Madison wrote the first drafts of the U.S. Constitution, co-wrote the Federalist Papers and sponsored the Bill of Rights. He helped with the Democrat-Republican Party with President Thomas Jefferson.
While at the school on St. Simons Island, Baker married Edward King, a black noncommissioned officer in the Union forces. For three years she moved with her husband's and brothers' regiment, serving as nurse and laundress, and teaching many of the black soldiers to read and write during their off-duty hours. In 1866 she and Edward returned to Savannah, where she established a school for the freed children. Edward King died in September 1866, a few months before the birth of their first child. In 1867 she returned to her native Liberty County to establish another school.
In the later part of the 1970’s, Edward and Lorraine Warren would conduct an investigation on the now well-known house in the city of Amityville as a result of concerns from the homeowner at the time. Ed was a demonologist, while Lorraine was a trance medium, which Reverend Stefanidakis defines as having the gift that allows the spiritual communicator to speak through her consciously. Patrick Henry vs. Britain “Give me liberty or give me death!” was a statement that Patrick Henry said when he was at the Virginia Convention of 1775 on March 23rd at St. John’s church. At the convention, he wrote a magnificent speech to get the colonists to support his claim about going to war against the British. He wanted to urge the colonists to fight back against Great Britain for what they have done to them. Patrick Henry convinced the colonists to go to war by using various literary devices.
During the middle eighteenth century, the tension between the United States of America and Great Britain was at it's peak. Thomas Paine and Patrick Henry, two important men during this time, both believed that war between these two countries was inevitable, thus trying to persuade others in America to participate in claiming their freedom and liberty by partaking in the war. Although both men had similar points in their speeches, Henry's tone and style had a more effective way of persuading the audience than Paine did. Thomas Paine and Patrick Henry are exemplary studies of Divine Providence as the giver of freedom is an important concept for every American to understand. When Thomas Paine tries to persuade his audience, he makes it seem as though America is somewhat being forced into getting into a war with Britain.
Thomas has grown up to be a nerd with an optimistic attitude and a talkative storyteller. Victor on the other hand grew up to be quite pessimistic, having that his father left him and his mother at a young age. Victor comes home to his mother with news that his father had just died and he must go to retrieve his body. Thomas offers Victor money for the trip under one condition, Victor brings him with him too Thomas agrees and they set out on journey to go get Arnold.

Each believed in the fundamental right to be free from rule. Patrick Henry appealed to the people’s fear of war. Thomas Jefferson was able to convince people that together, they could form a new nation. The writings of each man reveals a very chaotic time in America’s history and the leadership, determination, and boldness of Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson ensured that when change came, the people were ready for it.

They needed great writers, such as Thomas Paine and Patrick Henry, to help them get inspired in the war. Thomas Paine and Patrick Henry both delivered writings that inspired people, but were very different. Although both of Henry and Paine used different tactics during their writings, both their writings were influential.
The act of violence is not always what wins a revolution. The men of the revolution saw the power in words and used this to their advantage. Both Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine created monumental pieces of history which helped to advance the revolution by using nothing more than their words. By examining Patrick Henry and Thomas Paine's accounts of oppression from the king, the necessity of the revolution is clearly seen through the spiritual take by Paine and the logical take by Henry; both methods led to the conclusion that the rebellion was needed. Although two very different methods, they both are very similar when looking at their reasonings.
This creates a void between them that leads Henry to walking out and being disowned by his family,
Director Tim Burton uses Edward’s differentiation from the town to illustrate the town's lack of identity. When Edward is first introduced to the neighbourhood, he quickly gains a favorable reputation due to his ‘completely different’ charm and character, which differ from what is typically seen in society. With the help of the unanimous curiosity of the residents, Edward is able to quickly adapt to their lifestyle, finding helpful ways to use his scissorhands. In spite of this, however, he remains “all alone” as the target of jokes and the amusements of the housewives, who have grown tired of following the town's homogeneity by staying home while their husbands work. He stays true to himself by saving the girl in the river from a snake. The author notes that Edward “risked his own life to do it” pg. 26 when speaking of Edward’s rescue of the girl. This exemplification shows an extreme act of courage. Edward also displays bravery when he steals the eye from the college students to return to the old lady. Even though the men said that they would “take one of his eyes as recompense” pg 83 if he failed to return the eye, Edward boldly carries out this task.
