Comparing U.S. and Canadian City Design

The United States and Canada are neighbors with many similarities but they take different approaches to designing their cities. Modern day examples I want to compare are Vancouver, BC and Huston TX. I think both examples show each country's approach to city design for better or for worse. There are many reasons that influence city design such as layout and design, public transportation, density, green space, and zoning laws.
Layout and Design: Canadian cities tend to have a more grid-like layout than American cities. American cities often have more curved and winding streets. This is because many Canadian cities were planned and designed with a grid system, while American cities grew
