Louise M. Porter was an author, historian, and a founding member of the St. Joseph Historical Society. She was the society’s president for the first seven years of its existence. S. E. Hinton 's novel The Outsiders, Hilton includes two characters that only care for eachother. They have many similarities, they both have abusive parents and they both place little value on their lives. However they have many differences. Dally gets in trouble a lot with the fuzz, johnny on the other hand is shy, always looks like something is bothering him. Johnny ends up dying but he dies a hero, Dally dies a hoodlum, he attempts to pull a unloaded gun on the fuzz but dies as soon as he does it.
In the novel, The Watsons Go to Birmingham- 1963, we learn about a weird family from Flint, Michigan. Byron is the older brother, who was not a good person when we meet him, but by the end of the book he changes becomes a better person. The story starts in their home in Michigan, but follows them on their trip to Alabama to visit their grandma. The Watson family has 2 sons and 1 daughter, Joetta.
Ponyboy is also faced with conflict after Johnny’s death. For a while, he refuses to accept that Johnny is dead and is so in denial that he believes he’s the one that killed Bob. When Randy visits Ponyboy’s home, he upsets Ponyboy by mentioning that Johnny would’ve been in trouble with the law if he were alive. Ponyboy objects and says, “I had the knife. I killed Bob.”

The boys need fend for themselves and they all had to figure out how to survive. Eventually all of the boys soon turned into savages and went against one another by hurting the others. There are two main characters who took charge right away due to no supervision: Jack and Ralph. Jack was mainly in charge of hunting, and Ralph was in charge of shelters. Each of the boys are in competition for chief, which leads to lack of authority.
Vinny and Joe-Boy are fifteen year old boys. Joe-Boy is not that nice to Vinny which shows that maybe they are not that good of friends. After reading the short story “The Ravine” I know that Vinny did not jump. The story does not say that, but I inferenced that he did not jump. They have many similarities.

Vinny was really scared . Vinny didn’t jump in the pond rate away because he was thinking about the dead boy's body because he doesn't know if the body is down in the water and he would be jumping off a 50 foot ledge. Joe-boy and Starlene seid the stone goddess took the dead boy. Joe-boy doesn't have a lot of differences like vinny but here are a couple of examples.
