W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington were very influential leaders for the equality of blacks, specifically ex-slaves while W.E.B. DuBois was a founder of the well known NAACP. Both of them agreed that the goal was to have black people be fully engaged in society. This meant they should be active in the economic as well as the political sections of society. Unfortunately, their differing backgrounds brought them to very different places on how they felt that ultimate goal would be achieved. Booker T. Washington was born as a slave.
Boyden shows that being true to one’s identity allows one to have self-control. Xavier, unwilling to give up his cultural identity in the madness of war, holds whatever part of himself that still reminds him of his culture. Boyden portrayed how Elijah was losing his cultural identity, by showing many signs throughout the war including: the scalping, morphine and his killings. Niska was betrayed not only by the Frenchman, but also herself by giving her powers to the wemistikoshiw. The characters are given a choice of how they want to use their powers and abilities.
After laws were passed that separated African Americans and Whites, the lives of those who were harmfully affected saw no progress in their mission for equality. After the Thirteenth Amendment abolished in America, racial discrimination became regulated by the Jim Crow laws, which mandated strict segregation of the races. Several lies were affected because of segregation it was a major problem for people in the United States of America whether it was the South or the North. Two leaders had different perspectives to handle racism but they both wanted to end racism and they were W.E.B. Dubois & Booker T. Washington.

W.E.B DuBois and Booker T. Washington had a lot of things in common and a lot of things different from each other in the late 19th century and early 20th century. They were two influential leaders in the black community. Although they are both leaders they have different opinions on what black people should do in order to fit into American society. Washington and DuBois both believed in education but had two different beliefs about education. Washington believed in gradual equality for black people, he believed in vocational education.
Some might say Booker T Washington or W.E.B DuBois was better however; they both had their own stake in civil rights to either try to bring about change or encourage the African American community to be appreciated by whites to where they were loyal from the beginning. As Booker T Washington said in his speech," As we proved our loyalty to you in the past, in nursing your children, watching by the sickbed of you mothers and fathers, and often following them with tear-dimmed eyes the their graves, so in the future, in our humble way, we shall stand by you with the devotion that no foreigner can approach.. " Likewise they both still have that on purpose to where W.E.B. DuBois was advocating for African Americans to receive that same eligible education while, Booker T Washington was fighting for self-reliance and more civil rights. As to where African Americans would be able to vote, so you asked who was a stronger advocate. In my opinion, I would say both, because you cannot attempt to pin one against the other where all they both did was try to compromise in receiving equality of the races.
I am going to be comparing how two great black men in history and their opinions on what black people should do for their rights. Those two men are Booker T. Washington and W.E.B DuBois. Even though DuBois had respect for Washington, he did not feel as if what Washington wanted us to do was helpful to the blacks. Washington believed in vocational and industrial education for young and unskilled workers. Though they both believed in education, Dubois believed that everyone who was capable should have higher education.

The author, Arthur Miller did this by taking a historic event such as the Salem witch trials which now are perceived as terrible and wrong. Then, the author connected it into their modern society for them to realize the obvious wrongdoings of the past were happening in front of their very own eyes, just in an unusual way, the red scare and effects of McCarthyism.
He deciphers a way to tell the readers that as human beings, there are just as many ways to lose power as there are to gain it. Piggy is the main source of this information, and through his past, and the ways he acts, he somehow manages to show the readers the significance of how, through our personalities and things we can’t help, we lose so much power. Many books and novels in this world focus on the things that help us gain power and leadership, but the fact that Golding did the opposite, makes this book stand out more than the others. For the boys on the island, power is a big struggle; there are always fights over who gets to speak and who gets to be in charge and make all of the major decision. Through these fights and through these arguments, William Golding shows that power is a hard thing to grasp and it is something that is even harder to maintain.

It attracts the worst and corrupts the best.” When the young boys first gathered after the crash, they were civil, mostly well behaved boys until the need for power took advantage of them. Two crucial symbols from the novel are the sow’s head and the conch shell. Each of these symbols represent power however, their powers have different meanings.
In summary, Bartleby is an introverted and selfish man who focuses on himself, in contrast with the Narrator who is extroverted and thinks too much about others’ well being. Bartleby also does what he wants at any given moment when the Narrator does what is expected of him. The Narrator fully grasps life when Bartleby has given up on life itself. The name Wistinson is ironic because Winston is in a country that is the farthest thing from a friendly country. Not only does Winston as well as the other citizens of Oceania lack many rights that most of us today may not even consider as rights such as , The freedom to think for ourselves as well as express our thoughts. The irony of the last name Smith is that Winston Smith is actually not the average or " the common" indiviual like the others he is one of the few that longs to go against Big Brother and the Goverment. Using his charm, good looks, and manners, Mr. George Wickham is able to deceive multiple characters throughout Pride and Prejudice in order to gain favor and sympathy. Initially, Mr. Wickham is introduced as an upstanding, friendly character who would be the perfect spouse for Elizabeth Bennett. He then evolves into a man in search of pity and wealth. George manages to turn blame and hatred onto others instead of owning up his own actions. Money and revenge are his motives, and he does not care who he has to hurt or mislead to obtain his goal.
