Culture is what defines American Society. It has been heightened every generation that has passes. Today people take part in cultural landscape. Cultural landscape is what people in societies do to the land or change about land. Culture has always been adapting to societies and will continue to expand and elevate.
Adapting To Challenging Environments In A Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park, “Time Trip: Sudan’s Civil War” by Scholastic, Salva’s Bio” and “Water for South Sudan: Salva’s Story”, many events that happened in Sudan and how people adapted to their challenging environment are shown. The characters I will focus on are Salva, Nya, Salva’s Uncle, the Lost Boy’s, and Sudanese people in general. The main point I will focus on is that individuals adapt in challenging environments by taking small steps to complete a big task, moving from one place to another, and taking advantage of the current environment and it’s resources. The author uses several literary devices, including a plot, characters, images, language, and other things to show how Salva,
There is a stark contrast between the rural Jamaican and the American perception of the ideal body in society. Jamaicans highly favor fat bodies, while Americans prefer the lean, lithe look. The major extreme comes when comparing women in both cultures. Jamaicans encourage young girls to eat and become fat and portray that as the most desirable. On the hand, in America, young girls are the most at risk for developing eating disorders.
American culture has an identification of what could be described as unique and abstract to a degree of not being like any other. Their philosophy of culture would be to learn and interpret to be applicable to your own life. This society has set no restrictions on what the culture could be or have certain traditions that must be followed. America can tolerate and accept many practices to create its own culture that is not conventional.
How America is different than other countries is that America is treated differently than any other countries the way they are treated different is that they have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Also in this country we pay high taxes. America has more diversity than other countries. In America we don’t just use English we use a variety of other languages. America is also wealthy.

Similarities and Difference between American and Mexican Cultures Have you ever wondered what your cultural background is? Today not too many of us could answer that question without having to stop and think about our answer. I am going to talk about the similarities and difference that can be found between the American and Mexican cultures when it comes to our traditions, values and beliefs. Traditions are the handing down of information from one generation to the next generation it could be on how certain ceremonies are performed, to how and when past generations planted crops and how they celebrated different holidays. Cultural values mean what is accepted and unaccepted, these values can be different from culture to culture.

“True hospitality is marked by an open response to the dignity of each and every person. Henri Nouwen has described it as receiving the stranger on his own terms, and asserts that it can be offered only by those who have found the center of their lives in their own hearts’” (Norris 197). Every culture throughout history has had its own view on hospitality, religion, education, and government. Sometimes, when those cultures meet, those views clash.
The world as a whole is an extremely diverse and often confusing place in terms of knowing what is accepted and what is not accepted when it comes to certain cultures. Often times different countries from around the world have different and often distinguishably unique cultures than others around them. That is why I believe America is such an interesting and amazing place to live no matter who you are or where you are from. It 's because of all of these different cultures coming together that I feel that America has its own distinct culture, but instead of the culture having its own representative body, I believe that the “American” culture is a combination of the many different cultures that are present in the country of the United States.
In my eyes, American culture is like a salad bowl. People from all different places, with all different backgrounds, came together to make America unique and diverse. Some aspects that make up American culture include our food, our art, our ways of life, and our national holidays. For example, holidays such as the 4th of July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving and Veterans Day are only celebrated in this country. All cultures have the same basic needs of food, water, shelter and good health, but all cultures tend to have different values.
To best understand one’s own culture and values, it’s helpful to compare to and contrast to another. Nearly 7,000 miles away from America is a captivating country packed full of a diverse population, that county is Israel. There are many differences and strong parallels between the two countries in the areas of family life, military, and language. Family life and values have changed over time for both Israel and America, but there are some significant differences. For example, in Israel for a woman to be socially accepted she must hold her family together, “Women who do not accept that model (being the center of the family) are often seen as failing their natural role as a woman and their national role as an Israeli”(The Centrality of).
Coming to the cultural differences between Americans and Indians, the Indians are very much family oriented and much respect is paid to family values. On the other side, Americans culture values individual values and is more prominent than the family values. Another difference is that American culture appreciates mobility while the Indian culture love stability. On the other side, Americans think of self-reliance and independence while Indians are more dependent on other. Lastly, Indians value elders’ views in the decision-making process while the American culture teaches people to make their own decisions.
“The place to start when learning to communicate across cultures is to become aware of proxemics, how close to stand or sit when communicating. We each have an invisible circle that surrounds us called (personal space) “. (Gonzalez-Mena, 2008) I am a friendly person, so generally, I like to be close to the person I’m talking to. If a stranger stands close to me I will feel comfortable.
Everyone around the world has different beliefs, behaviors, objects and religion that are common for a particular society or a group of people who enjoys shared values and thus gives positive contributions to the society. This is called Culture. These are carried on by the people from generation by generation. It is the particular view point, customs and beliefs that discern one culture from another. It is transferred from one generation to another through language, material objects, and daily rituals.
