Author William Faulkner of “A Rose for Emily” and Edgar Allan Poe of “The Fall of the House of Usher”. The display of death in these short stories in a horrific way by having bloody murder while having relations with a corpse to a paranormal activity in the house story. They both present the theme of insanity by it clues and the wording in the stories. William Faulkner talks about a woman named Emily, Now William Faulkner introduces the reader about Emily( “fat, short woman in black”) explaining of how ordinary and normal she is so that when it comes closer to the end of the story it shows the true insane Emily. The wording sounding like a high class person was speaking with a lot of intelligence placed. Edgar Poe gives the eerie feeling (“ dark, mute autumn”) from the creepy setting. Now the story show paranormal activity by indicating that there is a (“dark figure standing”) which the Usher kept seeing as well (“ hearing noises so often”) giving another scary element and a understandment why it's about ghosts, a haunted house. So, not only was the house haunted Mr. Usher was (“mentally ill”) could have been just imagination that could have caused him to think that there’s ghosts within the house, that the noises and body figures was just all in his head. Also could have lead him to his deathbed (“ death upon fear”) usually when a person has so much build up of fear and stress a heartache is presented. Could his mental illness caused his death or was all of it not in his head with the wording Edgar Poe gives it could go either way, for me I think the house is haunted but if the second theory is correct then the story wouldn’t seem such a
