Buddhist does not have a creator /god to place enlightenment towards the origin of the universe. Buddhism teaches how one situation depends on another situation. An event that has occurred in the present is based on events that was triggered by the past and will become the cause of future events.
Even though the Buddha did not refute the subsistence of gods, he shared that the devotion of gods blocked one's mission for nirvana. To him the gods reside in the heavens and are transient like all other living beings. There is no God as an everlasting holy being. Gautama, who is the founder of Buddhism, did not claim to be godly
