Each of the four stories support a cause for war. “Megahitler” made a case for creating a punishment for one of the greatest villains the world had known. “Combat Unit” dealt with a war time bolo who believed it was captured by the very thing it had gone to battle with. Survival was the very core of “Ender’s Game”. Without war, the world would have not went on. Honor Harrington defended a planet’s inhabitants in “On Basilisk Station”. The argument for war is strong amongst the stories, whether it is war between different worlds, or a war against drug dealers.
As amusing as “Megahitler” was, it made a solid case for war. Old Guy traveled the galaxy and hoped to come across anything that he might interact with. He encountered Megahitler and had a conversation with him that turned into a history lesson. Megahitler defined himself as Hitler 2.0. He was aware he was vilified because of his namesakes’ crimes and was not pleased with that association. Megahitler knew he was evil, and looked at the deeds he had done as merely a game.

While she and her crew attempted to bring Basilisk Station back up to standards, a rouge group of people set up camp on the planet surface and manufactured an illegal drug in an attempt to get the planet natives hooked on it. Their purposed was to set up a profiting enterprise. They had also armed the citizens with weapons beyond their current technology. This backfired as some of the natives rebelled. The case for war was built on Honor declaring war on the off world entity that had set up the drug introduction on the planet. Without war, the planet natives would have revolted and being that it was such a primitive society, it would have set the tone for the rest of the planet and its history.
