Different struggles in life, either in a physical or mental way, relate to all humans at some point or another. A human being will always face that struggle, but what can help make their path better is help. Someone to help or guide another person along the way makes a journey more pleasurable. However, when someone, or something, is left alone over a period of time, that can change how they see the world. With no one around to talk to or understand parts of life, their physical and mental traits can change or become unhinged. Frankenstein’s creator doesn’t get that same peace in his mind, and continues to live in that fear. The fear that each creature has developed from isolation comes from the length of time they spent alone. With Edward Scissorhands, he is spent alone in a tower, but Frankenstein’s creature spends his time in isolation through different parts of the world. To explore and experience the world can be a scary journey, having no choice but to do it alone is what Frankenstein’s creatures have to endure. The creature’s isolation is different than Edwards. Instead of being away in a tower, the way Mary Shelley explained the creature’s isolation made it more difficult for the creature to truly understand the unknown. The creature had to experience the world and hide from it at the same time. Not knowing where to go, who to talk to, or how to navigate leaves the creature unsure who to trust, or communicate with. Mentally, this fear is enough to drive anyone insane and lead them down a dangerous path. In Edwards case he was terrified of first contact with a human, with the creature in Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus, always finds trouble with new
