The concept of living life to the fullest and making the most out of every day is cognizant throughout different cultures and society. Robert Herrick wrote “To the Virgins, to make much of Time” in order to encourage young men to make the most out of their youth while they still can. This is mirrored in “The Picture of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde, by Lord Henry’s conversation with Dorian Gray, in which he tell Gray to appreciate his youth and beauty while he still has it.
