The things you do in life are for a reason In the book, Of Mice of Men, the writer, John Steinbeck shares a descriptive story about two men who have had hard times in life. I believe that John Steinbeck is trying to say that human beings, in general, experience things that build and mold them into who they will eventually become. George and Lennie are the two main characters in this book. The characters, George and Lennie react to the harsh lifestyle of traveling for work in different ways. Curley, is smalld has a hard job on the farm, but he acts braver and stronger than he really is in reality. Slim adjust to his life really well, and therefore is able to take control of Curley. Slim is also a thoughtful to other people. He understands why George is sad when Lennie is is dead. Crooks realize that on the ranch, racism still exists. He reacts to the inequality by keeping it to himself. Candy, even though he's quite and old, is inspired by George and Lennie's dream of owning a farm and asks if he can be part of the dream . Lennie is simple and the dream of the farm keeps him going from job to job. George is frustrated but kind and caring with Lennie. George also believes in the dream of the farm or at least tries to believe in it, for him and Lennie's sake. For George, Lennie is a friend but also a caretaker. He uses the dream, impossible as it might be to keep his and Lennie's spirits up. With respect to human nature, humans find ways of dealing with harsh times. Human beings’ liveliness is respectable and can be tragic, considering the obstacles they might face. Some, like Curley, react by becoming uncertain and protective . Some, like George and Lennie, dream of something better even if they know, deep down, that it is particularly impossible to achieve that
