Lamarck and Darwin
There were two scientists that both had ideas about life on earth but only one got it right at the end. Jean-Baptiste Lamarck was the first out of the two who had a theory and it was theory of inheritance of acquired characteristics. Charles Darwin theory was that the evolution of the biological species takes place according to the natural selection. They both have difference but they also have something in common.
The first scientist that had his theory out of both of them is Lamarck. Lamarck lived from 1744-1829.at first he was a solider then a scientist He presented his first book about natural selection in 1801 and published it in 1859. In the book he mention that if an organism changes during its life in order to adapt to its new environment, those changes will be passed on to its offspring. He also said that if the organism wants or needs change it will be changed. An example he has used it that once elephants used to have short trucks. Once there was no food or water that they could reach so they had to stretch their trucks and so then their offspring inherited long trucks. …show more content…

He lived from 1809-1882. He believed that the desire of animals does not have anything on how they evolve and that changes in an organism life does not affect the evolution of species. He also said the organism of the same species are different and the ones that have a lot of helpful things to survive in their environment have more offspring. Some of the animals don't adapt so well so they die. He said that most elephants used to have short trucks and some had long ones. When there was no food and water, the short trucks could not get some do they died off.eventually, all the elephants had long trucks. Lastly, he doesn't believe that evolution doesn't happen according to a plan. As you see there's a big different of each of their
