Comparing MLK And Malcolm X

In the 1960s people were fed up with blacks having no civil rights at all and needed a solution. Two men named Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X both had ideas of achieving those rights. MLK first gave his speech in August of 1963 and delivered a great speech to millions. About a year later Malcolm gave his speech and started what was known as the black panther movement. In this essay I will show you both of their opinions on how they wanted to establish civil rights and how Martin Luther King jr’s methods and ideas far surpass those of Malcolm X’s. MLK and Malcolm X both obviously wanted the same thing but they both had very different ways of attaining it. Dr King went about it through peaceful protest and didn't want to start a conflict. MLK said himself during his speech that once they get their rights “The sons of former slaves and sons of former slave owners will be able to sit together at the table of brotherhood”(King jr 2); meaning that once they have their rights these two kinds of people will become friends and no longer be enemies. MLK is talking to everyone, black and white people; about how they need to stand together to rise above segregation as he says “Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of god's children”(King jr 1). Malcolm does talk to both audiences, but he talks to the blacks differently. He talks to them about how he is tired of segregation and how they need to stand up for themselves and take matters into their own hands instead of getting pushed around. He tries to point out how unfair whites are by saying “Every blue eyed thing is already a american.And as long as you and I have been here, we still aren't Americans yet”(X 1) saying that all white people from other countries are already Americans and are getting to become them before the black
