Referring to the quote “Man is not fully conditioned and determined but rather he determines himself whether he give in to conditions or stands up to them. In other words, man is self-determining. Man does not simply exist but always decides what his existence will be, what he will become in the next moment.” By Viktor E. Frankl. According to this quote, man is influenced or molded by the society surrounding them as said by John Locke’s Tabula Rasa. This quote and statement have been proven in many English pieces of literature but, greatly stands out in “Macbeth” a tragic Scottish play written by William Shakespeare, “Persepolis 1&2” graphic novel self - documentary of a female in Iran which is written by Marjane Satrapi and Lord of the Flies …show more content…

But, the young girls don’t like the veil so play around with and in Panel 4 on the same page it shows the girls just running around and having fun with the veil by using it as a skipping rope or as a mask. This shows that the lady which would represent the society is commanding the girls to dress in a specific way. Another example of when this occurs is when Marjane goes to go buy western tapes wearing western clothes that her parents got for her when they went for a vacation in Turkey. While she is walking the guardians of the revolution for females stopped her. “They were guardians of the revolution, the women’s branch.
