In the film Return of The Living Dead, Frank and Freddy, two warehouse workers, are exposed to a toxic gas that causes them to become very ill and exhibit zombie like traits. In the film Rabid, Rose and her boyfriend are involved in a motorcycle accident. After Rose undergoes surgery which involves receiving a skin graft, Rose’s body undergoes a mutation and she grows a new organ in her armpit that feeds on blood. When Rose feeds on others with her new organ, they become rabid. Both Return of The Living Dead and Rabid share similarities and differences on the symptoms of the diseases, how the diseases are transmitted, and how the diseases are communicable. When Frank and Freddy are affected by the gas in Return of The Living Dead, they exhibit symptoms such as; fever, vomiting, excessive sweating, change in skin color, and no pulse. One symptom that is unique from the others is that the infected have no pulse. Frank and Freddy were still able to communicate to those around them, however, they were still dead. When people were stung by Rose’s organ or were infected by others with the disease, they started to show symptoms such as; fever, change in skin color, excessive sweating, and foaming at the mouth. Unlike in Return of the Living Dead, the symptoms of the affected in Rabid were more similar to symptoms of rabies, not of zombies. When people were affected in Rabid, they were still very much alive. One symptom that was unique was that the infected foamed at the mouth, similar to how animals do when they are infected with rabies.
