The Elohim and Gaia creation myths have both depicted light and darkness. The Elohim spoke, "Let there be light, and there was the light that made day different from night” (34). The Gaia story mentions, “Erebos, the darkness, and Nyx, the night. Erebos and Nyx made love…and Hemera, the day” (46). These two myths also depicts the creation of these beings on earth in a sequence such as in the Gaia myth “In the beginning, there was Chaos, the abyss…Next came Tartaros, the depth in the Earth where condemned dead souls go to their punishment, and Eros, the love that overwhelms bodies and minds” (46) and so on. They all came one after another not at one time. In The Elohim myth also shows they designed the beings on earth step by step. “"Let there be a dome to separate the heavens from the waters below, and there were the heavens”(34). …show more content…
This proves that in the Elohim and Gaia creation stories, the Earth’s aspects came in a particular order. In my opinion (going off base with the book), something the Gaia creation and The Elohim creation is number of Gods. In the Hebrew story there was only one God who designed everything on earth, but for the sake of this essay I’ll have to agree The Elohim was many deities which is another similarity with the Greek myth. In Greek story there was gods for every aspect of Earth such as; “In the beginning, there was Chaos…Next came Tartaros, the depth in the Earth where condemned dead souls go to their punishment” (46). There is a god for the sea, Poseidon, the Earth god, Gaia, king of the gods, Zeus, God of the underworld, Hades etc. Another thing that separates these two stories is how they divide things
