Some scholars think the book of Acts was written to Theophilus which means lover of God in Greek. However, because the tone of the book is apologetic, some think the book could also have been intended to present the Christian faith and church in a positive manner towards the Roman authorities (Laymon). Therefore, identification of who the book was written for is based on speculation because scholars cannot determine for certain the individuals or individual the book was addressed to (Laymon). Nevertheless, scholars do know that the work is read as an account of the life of the Christian movement (Laymon). The date of Acts is uncertain, but the remorseful tone gives clues that it could possibly be during a time when the church was under attack and enduring a lot of stress, plus, it provides encouragement for those going through stressful times as well
The Gospel of Luke was intended for Theophilus, it has been debated who Theophilus was, whether a man, most likely a Gentile, or that the name was a general one, applied to every Christian as the name means “one who loves God”. Readers are not given much insight into this but what we do know is that the Gospel of Luke was written not just for one man but to a representative of readers to help and strengthen their faith. (Berkhof, 2004) From the style of writing and His Other features of the Gospel of Luke is that it is continued in the book of Acts, though once again the author does not identify themselves the style and language of the books is very similar and both are addressed to Theophilus.
“Ecclesiastes presents a naturalistic vision of life, one that sees life through distinctively human eyes, but ultimately recognizes the rule and reign of God in the world,” according to Chuck Swindoll. The book of Revelation emphasizes that Christ will return someday to establish his kingdom of justice, and righteousness, and make all the wrong happening stop. Ray Bradbury emphasizes these books from the bible to demonstrate how Montag’s remembrance of the books is used to travel through the world in hopes to use that knowledge to change the world’s interpretation on what books do to a person’s thoughts. Because the terminology of Ecclesiastes is assembling or to gather from one person in life, and the meaning of Revelation is uncovering

In the book of Acts, Luke makes it clear that the leaders of the Jerusalem church and the missionaries who first helped carry “the new way” into the larger world beyond the Jewish capital to Greece and Rome did so with the same divine spirit that Jesus led his teachings (Harris, 2014). This level of dedication to spread Christianity, otherwise referred to as “the new way”, was necessary because even though these leaders had no interest in political interference, “the new way” would directly clash with current Greco-Roman tradition (Harris, 2014). Luke focuses on a select few leaders in the book of Acts even though he specifically mentions eleven of them (Harris, 2014). These select few apostles represent the leadership that began the spreading
Matthew and Luke were both evangelists. They both helped to spread the Gospel, the good news of Jesus. Their telling of the Gospel is very similar, yet very different at the same time. They are similar because they both tell the same story.
Overall, explains a grand plan of Jesus Christ and Church. He emphasizes this Gospel is for all people” (Hays, 2011, pg. 605). Some other reasons Luke wrote his book include: evangelism; encouraging people to share the good news, confirmation of the factual basis for faith, showing that Christianity should have the same rights as other religious sects, solution of a theological problem; assuring Christians that Christ will come at the appointed time, defense against heresy, instruction, and dealing with social problems; these include wealth and poverty (Liefeld, 1984, pg.
He was a known companion of Paul and is also said to have written the Acts of the Apostles. He is also recorded to have taken into consideration a lot of eye-witness accounts and opinions. Historians say that Luke was most likely a physician
It is interesting that two of the four gospels give us narrative of the early life of Christ. Each one, and Luke, has their own unique writing style. Matthew is writing to the Jewish Christian to encourage them in their faith that Jesus is the promised Messiah of the Jews. Luke account is to the Gentiles Christian to give them an accurate and historical explanation of the life of Jesus.
Luke was a doctor as mentioned by Paul in the epistle to the Colossians. The earliest known date for when Acts could have been written is set by an event that is mentioned at the end of Acts, the imprisonment of Paul in Rome (A.D. 63). It is thought that Acts was actually written around A.D. 80-90. There a five main

The book of Luke is much more biographical, while the Acts of the Apostles is more historiographical. Acts tells a story. The story Luke tells is out of the research that he has done. Luke is persuaded that God has a plan and that nothing is accidental or coincidental. Luke
Besides Jesus, Paul, who called himself as an Apostle, was influential in the beginning of Christianity. People even claimed him as the “founder of Christianity”.
