“ Big stories from small towns, this is emblematic. The police blotter items are just one part of what make local newspaper writing so charming.” Muller book focused on small town newspapers and wonder how they were doing in a nation that uses technology constantly. When asked how they were doing she said, “ I found that about
On October 22, 1734 the Governor William Cosby ordered for the Public burning of some of John Peter Zenger 's journals entitled: The New York Weekly Journals. Since the Journal’s said so much about the affairs of the Governor, the journals became extremely popular and were purchased by the majority of people living in New York City. To the Governor this event was looked at as a disturbance of the peace. Zenger 's Journals were said to have contained false accusations against the governor and therefore were in violation of bringing contempt toward the government itself. Only the Journals 7, 47, 48, and 49 contained Libel.

On Tuesday October 17, 2017 at 12:48pm, I researched the two-different online Philly news outlets; Billy Penn News and PhillyVoice News. Since, both news outlets serve the same purpose, which is to provide information to their audience, there holds some differences between the two. Such as, the structure of the website, style, audience members and much more. Therefore, it is prominent that both websites are carefully analyzed.

In the Richmond Daily Dispatch the ads and classified that are present primarily seem to revolve around slavery. An example of this would be the “wants” section of the paper which exclusively feature requests for black workers.16 Another example can be seen through the “Negroes for Sell and Hire” section which contains the largest percentage of ads in the paper further highlighting the focus on slavery.8 The New York Times when compared to the Dispatch appears to have a much higher quantity and more diverse selection of ads and classifieds with several pages in the paper being devoted exclusively to them. Most of the ads that are present also seem to advertising for various businesses while also features a large section focusing on the Sales at the Stock Exchange featuring a large amount of financial information.1,7
For this project I will be analyzing how terrorism is framed differently and how the agendas are set differently depending on the political affiliation of a given news network. I will compare how different politically based media outlets differ in framing and agenda setting of terrorism. The two outlets I will be looking at are MSNBC and Fox News. I am eager to see how vastly different terrorism is represented by varying news outlets based on political affiliation. MSNBC is an American news cable and satellite television network that provides news coverage and political commentary from NBC News.
Editors began searching for new ways to attract readers. The first changes to be made were purely aesthetic” (“The Newspaper Empire”). Publishers initially thought that to get customers, they needed to make their newspapers pleasing to the eye. They started by just enlarging fonts, using bold colors, and including interesting pictures
The term “yellow journalism” started in the late 1800’s when Hearst decided that he wanted his newspaper to be significantly more popular than Pulitzer’s, who, at the time, published the most successful newspaper, The New York World. Hearst was actually succeeding, until Pulitzer hired the artist, Outcault. People began to notice Pulitzer’s newspaper because of a cartoon about a boy dressed in yellow known as the yellow kid. Hearst got jealous and hired Outcault to draw the yellow kid in his newspaper as well. Soon, both newspapers had comics featuring the yellow kid.
World news is a large part of the world today, especially with how easy it is to access news stories with technology. Everything is public knowledge as soon as it happens. I keep up to date with domestic news and try to have some knowledge of other countries’ news. I frequently check news updates on my phone and laptop if I am using them. Two typical domestic news sites I use are The New York Times and The Washington Post and I typically use their world news column as well.
A bias is an inclination or prejudice towards one person or group, often in a manner that is deemed to be unfair. Because all humans have their own opinions and views, biases can be found everywhere and often affect things that are supposed to be only factual. Most news media outlets are guilty of projecting their own beliefs on what is being reported. Several ways this happens are ... (yada yada yada) One way a news outlet can be biased is through its selection of sources by including more sources that support one point of view than another.
Finally I tried to use complex structures like one might see in as higher level publication such as Jet set with sentences like “money and social position are good opportunities we have for happiness” and “they have to show to the rest of the world their power and perfection” . Using these elements I feel I reached my purpose set out in the task. This task addresses the theme of Happiness, money and social position . For this task I chose monthly magazine because I felt that in this
In America, Media bias is everywhere, in the United States all the information that an average American received through everyday sources, the news was most likely processed through the media and told through a biased point of view, when the media gets their hands on news if it is important then it probably won’t be talked about or downplayed no matter the source like in the newspaper, radio, television, movies, as well as other outlets that the media uses, the media only seems to share the news that they find interesting, even then the media would most likely have changed the story, in what they say is just tweaked news, what actually happened and what really happened would be two different stories, also the story would be told from one person
When thinking of the media you think they are reporting the appropriate and accurate information not based on any personal opinions and feelings. Also one would not think the media would be reporting based on one side of politics or the other. The media is extremely biased when it comes to politics and news. While some of the media is conservative-biased I believe the mass media is liberal-biased. Majority of media outlets are liberal companies, media personnel and journalists will identify themselves as democrats and liberals more so than republicans or conservatives and lastly the left side (liberals) of the mass media is persuasive on what information to report.
