The classic novel that has been chosen is The Plague by Albert Camus and the comparison novel is Contagion by Robin Cook. Both of these novels feature the same common theme of disease and how it affects the characters during a time of crisis. Within The Plague it can be seen how the effects of the plague affect the town by making its people feel isolated in a sense that they are now completely blocked off from the world. Their mental health is greatly affected by the disease but a common theme of determination can be seen. The theme of keeping feelings isolated from everyone else is also reoccurring throughout this novel.
