A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings This is a very interesting story which seems to examine religious in the form of satirical poem about a fallen angel. The story begins with a storm that’s so terrible crabs are lining the courtyard of the house, not to mention the newborn baby in the house has taken ill, this can be viewed in similar contrast with the plagues of ancient Egypt rendered upon the Pharaoh; now when the man (Pelayo) returns he finds an old man with large wings laying on the ground, the man is described as not very hygienic and unable to communicate in their language. This differs widely from most biblical accounts of angels in the bible for example in Isaiah Chapter 6 verse 1: In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. Other accounts have described them as mere men with no wings but very well dressed for their time both accounts which would starkly differ from the angel depicted in this story. The story seems to be challenging the assumptions of the reader and calls into question are we really witnessing an angel or a mere mutated man with wings.
