Comparing Two Love Poems

"I Dreamed a Dream" and "As I Grew Older" Are two beautiful poems about Having Hopes and Dreams, but in these two stories there are similarities and differences. In the poem "I Dreamed a Dream" It starts out by explaining how the character from the musical Les Miserables, Fantine has dreamed a dream, and she is happy about her dream and how wonderful it is. "I dreamed a dream in time gone by, when hope was high and life worth living" she says in the beginning. Towards the end of the poem her dreams starts getting ripped apart and she explains how life has killed her dream. “So different now from what it seemed now life has killed my dream I dreamed." In "As I Grew Older" The poem starts as the poet Langston Hughes explains His dream and how its right in front of him, but then a wall rises in front of him. He's unable to get to his dream because of this wall and he's lying in the darkness of the wall." In front of me, Bright like a sun-- my dream. In the beginning of “I Dreamed a Dream” the author starts out by talking about how the character is happy and talking about her dream but then her dream gets ripped apart and killed by life. “I dreamed that love would never die I dreamed that God would be forgiving… I had dream that life would be so different from this hell I’m living so differently.” In “As I Grew Older” the author explains how there is a dream, but it is blocked by the wall which reaches top the sky and causes darkness but he breaks through the wall at the end of the poem. The differences between the two are that the first poem doesn’t have as much imagery as the second. In the second poem which “As I Grew Older” the author explains how the wall is rising and everything is dark until they break through the wall and gets to the dream.
