There are many similarities in the stories Hotel Rwanda and Night. For example, Eliezer and Paul are both protagonists that try to protect the people they love, such as their family members and people they know. The main characters loved ones are targeted to be killed due to their race, as one of the many reasons why the genocide began. In Night, Eliezer struggles to help his father during the time of his illness while in Hotel Rwanda, Paul bribes the general of the Rwandan army with large sums of money in exchange of the survival of his family and neighbors. Each character faces threats of being killed if they continue their acts of helping their loved ones.
To support this is example is the quote on page 253 that states “ The sheriff parked the car and led me up the path toward the river, and there, on a little hill overlooking the river and valley was my mother's grave.” This is a very important internal force that changes Sal because this is the point in the story when Sal finally realizes that her mother is actually died. Like who would not be changed by finding out that your mother the one who brought you into the world is dead. Also imagine if you were Sal ok imagine if you were told by the person who sat next to your mom on her death bus that she was dead then to go on this crazy trip just to find out that it's true that your mom is dead. I don't know about you but that would crush me, so just think how Sal was feeling and how much this changed her mindset of having her mother in her life again.
Sal realizes that her mom left because she felt unappreciated from her husband because he never called her by her real name. Sal noted that she needs to make anyone appreciated so nothing like this happens to anyone else. In these middle chapters of the book Sal sees and experiences mostly Internal conflicts, but in the last few chapters she experiences external
The similarities in Night and Schindler’s list are very obvious but one theme comes out in particular. Many people try not to realize what's true when they don’t want to when they see how fallacious it is. In the first few pages of Night by Elie Wiesel a boy discovers the horrors that are happening in Germany to the Jews and tries to warn others what is coming, ”Some even insinuated that he only wanted their pity, that he was imagining things. Others flatly said that he had gone mad. ”(P.7 Elie Wiesel).
In The Taker by J. M. Steele, Carly Biels is a teenager who has a dream to ace the SAT without help of the Taker. The Taker is an anonymous person who goes from person to person, asking them if they want him to take the SAT for them. All she wants in life is for her family and boyfriend, Brad, to be happy for her. All she needs to do is bomb the high school SAT. However when she gets her scores back from the practice SAT, she realizes she needs to up her game.
The theme in the novel “All Fall Down”is not to judge people without knowing the full truth about them. One way the reader is led to the theme is by observing the conflict and resolution of the story. Another way the reader is led to the theme is by the authors use of figurative and descriptive language that makes the reader feel different feelings towards the scarred man. Finally, the character development helps lead us to the theme throughout the way Alli Carter makes people feel towards the main characters Grace and Dominic the Scarre Man. Ally carter’s novel “All Fall Down” displays the conflict of human vs self.
The Holocaust can be called one of the darkest sides and the biggest tragedies of the human civilization. There are many different stories and experiences that recap what happened in the camps. Each one is unique from the next, but also shares similarities with in each other. There are two stories that interest many people and have similarities and differences. In the novel Night and in the movie "Life is Beautiful", the Holocaust was experienced both similarly and differently through the mood of sadness, father/ son relationship, and self-preservation.
The novel has two themes displayed through the novel. One theme is to never give up. Another theme is when an individual is scared to do something they can overcome
Unforgiving Life… Everyone learns lessons in life. These lessons can come from a book, experience and legends. Books have a theme that you can learn from that is what make books important. The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams and A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry both have the themes of responsibility, family and dream that runs through the main characters Tom Wingfield from The Glass Menagerie and Walter Lee Younger from A Raisin in The Sun.
The poems Untitled by Emily Dickinson and Acquainted With The Night by Robert Frost both deal with the themes of darkness and night. While on the surface they seem similar, they have very different meanings, which are made clear through devices such as diction, imagery, symbolism and irony. Robert Frost’s poem uses darkness as a metaphor for depression, while Dickinson uses the same symbol to mean ignorance. Both poems are told from a first-person perspective. However, Dickinson favors the pronoun “we” while Frost uses “I” almost to the point of excess.
The movie “Ever After” by Andy Tennant, and The short story Cinderella by Perrault, are both very different takes on the story of Cinderella. Perrault’s version of the story is the story that most of us have grown up with. It’s captivating and magical, but also it’s very one-dimensional, with a “magic pumpkin” and a “fairy godmother”. While, Tennant’s version is by far more realistic in nature, there is no magic pumpkin, but there is a prince who becomes her husband, an evil stepmother, and a pretty, kind hearted girl who slaves away doing as her stepmother demands. The “fairy godmother” does not randomly appear from no where, in “Ever After”, instead she is replaced by the great inventor Leonardo Da Vinic.
Agatha Christie uses characterization and conflicts in the story to teach the theme. Of course the major conflict, guests vs. killer is what is the main thing used to portray theme and is the most effective but the smaller, minor conflicts also help out. The internal conflict Vera has with her guilt is also meant to show that punishment is inevitable. when Vera kills Lombard her guilt over her past crime overwhelms her and Hugo drives her to commit suicide. Christie also uses characterization to enhance the theme.
It makes Salva completely change the way he lives, where he lives, and what he lives for. As Salva reflects about the government, “He knew that the rebels from the southern part of Sudan, where he and his family lived, were fighting against the government which was based in the North”(Part 6). Due to there being an outbreak of violence and war in the setting Salva lives he is forced to run away from his family and leave his old life behind and start a new one. This helps the plot move along because now he is alone and has no one by his side. No Salva will have to make many more significant and life threatening decisions than he ever thought he would

Cierra Greenidge Put to a choice! Jim Heynen story describes the beautiful and selflessness of humans making the right choice. The passage “What Happened during the Ice Storm” by Jim Heynen, has a very important idea and message it sends. The story has a very good theme to it and tells an important story. Throughout the story we see how the boys helped the pheasants out in the snow storm instead of leaving them out in freezing snow storm.
