This is the first book by Sir Author Conan Doyle I have ever read. I have always heard of Sherlock Holmes and his great adventures, but I had never read or even seen the movie. At first I was a little lost, I had to honestly read it again and again. I could not tell who was telling the story. Then, I was able to tell that a man named Watson was the one telling the story. He wrote about his life how he got his Medicine degree and how he was assigned to war duties. He had also gotten shot by a bullet in the shoulder. He had to move because he was running out of money. Then, he ran into an his old friend, Stamford who after talking to was later introduced to Holmes. Holmes met Watson and they discuss living arrangements, but I liked how Holmes …show more content…
Watson and Holmes ways of investigating were very different. Watson went inside and observed many things in the house while Holmes was outside and investigating outdoors. When they went into the room with the dead body of Enoch Drebber, Holmes turned it around and a women's ring fell off and rolled on the floor. They also saw the word Rache on the wall written in blood. The detective at the scene thought it was the name Rachel just that the murderer did not have time to finish writing it. Watson later informed them that the man was murdered by the second person in the cab, he was poisoned and that the word Rache was a German word for revenge. When I read this I was surprise one could be so smart, it was like having a six sense or a super power, one which I envied and wish I had. Mr. Ferrier grew rich amongst the Mormons and Lucy grew up beautifully. She fell in love with a man named Jefferson Hope. Mr. Ferrier had given them permission to marry, but Brigham Young did not accept it, he told Mr. Ferrier, Lucy had to marry one of the elder's sons. Which happen to be Enoch Drebber or Joseph Stangerson. Her dad told her they could escape and she wouldn't have to marry, but they kidnaped her and killed him. All while Jefferson was hunting. When he came back Lucy, had been married to Drebber within a month she died of heartsickness. At the funeral Jefferson took her wedding ring and planed his revenge.
